1983: a new chapter in Rolex history: the GMT-MASTER II.
Rolex introduces a new movement that enables the hour hand to be adjusted independently from the minutes hand and the 24-hour hand. To avoid any confusion with the existing GMT-Master models, those equipped with the new movement were called GMT-MASTER II.
