Description from the seller
Marcin Pawlik – "Bubble Gum" (1/1 Unique Piece)
Artwork Description:
"Bubble Gum" is a captivating and unique layered artwork at the intersection of Pop Art, Op-Art, and kinetic light illusion. It offers a contemporary, sophisticated reinterpretation of the legendary icon Marilyn Monroe, capturing her in an iconic, playful moment blowing bubble gum.
The artwork masterfully engages the viewer through optical perception and distance. Up close, the surface appears as an abstract, high-precision halftone matrix perforated through deep, high-gloss black acrylic. As the viewer steps back and shifts perspective, the dots seamlessly resolve into the clear, magnetic portrait of Marilyn Monroe.
Beneath the perforated acrylic lies an underlying mirror layer, which carries a deep symbolic resonance. Synonymous with diamonds and glamorous Hollywood elegance, Marilyn comes to life as ambient light filters through the perforations: the mirror sparkles, glints, and refracts light just like polished diamonds, dynamically interacting with the room and the viewer’s movement.
The artwork is elegantly enclosed in a bespoke, circular frame finished in brushed copper, creating a warm, luxurious contrast against the sleek glossy black and mirror reflections.
