Icon - Entry into Jerusalem - Wood, egg tempera paint

The Greek text at the top reads: Η ΒΑΪΟΦΟΡΟΣ, literally “the palm-bearer”, the traditional Greek name for Palm Sunday and the entry of Christ into Jerusalem. Christ rides on a donkey to the city gate, surrounded by apostles and inhabitants of Jerusalem; garments are laid down beneath him. This is the classic iconographic composition for this feast.
