In working condition.
The inscription “U.S. GOVERNMENT” engraved on the case back confirms that this Wakmann chronometer is official military equipment.
Origin and Historical Context
Official Supplier: During and after World War II, the American-Swiss brand Wakmann was officially mandated by the U.S. government to supply high-precision measuring instruments to the military.
Military Use: These mechanical chronometers were heavily used in the field. They were primarily found in the U.S. Air Force on aircraft (for navigation or fuel calculation) as well as in the U.S. Army for coordinating ground operations.
