Gerard Johan Staller (1880-1956) - Vrouwen Portret

G.J. Staller was born in 1880 in Amsterdam and lived and worked for most of his life in this city. He trained at the Rijksakademie in the capital and afterwards mainly painted Amsterdam cityscapes and scenes of the common people in the Jewish quarter around Waterlooplein and the Jordaan. Staller was therefore nicknamed the painter of Amsterdam’s Jewish folk life.
