Chribska - Josef Hospodka - Vase - Crystal

An exceptional example of Mid-Century Modern Czechoslovakian "Sklo" art glass, designed by the renowned glassmaster Josef Hospodka for the Chřibská Sklárna glassworks in the 1960s.
This dramatic, highly sculptural centerpiece features a vibrant, deep fuchsia pink core suspended inside a heavy, solid clear glass body using the complex sommerso technique. The piece is highly celebrated for its deliberate, dynamic asymmetry. One side has been masterfully hand-pulled from the furnace into an elongated, sweeping scroll handle, while the opposite sides flare outward into organic waves.
The underside features the signature thick, multi-lobed pulled star base characteristic of Hospodka’s iconic production series. Because each piece was hand-manipulated without a rigid mold, this bowl is a completely unique, one-of-a-kind mid-century design statement.
