Description from the seller
Antique Silver-Winish Manual-Wind Pocket Watch "Dollar"
Technical and Historical Description:
Movement: Manual-wind mechanical movement with anchor escapement and visible balance wheel. It bears the brand stamp "Dollar" engraved on the bridges of the gold-plated movement. Cleaning is recommended for optimal operation.
Case and Structure: Sterling silver case with a back exterior cover decorated with a floral engraving and a textured pattern. From its original triple-case structure, the absence of the intermediate inner lid (contratapa) is evident, preserving the main rear cover together with the original paper protector inside bearing technical notes and the serial number 286803.
Dial: White enamel dial in good condition, equipped with dual time numerals. It features main black Arabic numerals for hours 1–12 and a red inner 24-hour scale (13–24). It has a separate subsidiary seconds dial located at six o’clock.
Hands and Crown: Original syringe-style hands and a seconds hand on the auxiliary dial. Winding crown at twelve with integrated suspension hoop.
Context and Rarity: Made under the French brand "Dollar," historically known for producing sturdy and affordable watches. The piece’s uniqueness lies in the fact that, unlike most models from the brand produced in base metals or nickel, this example features a noble silver case, paired with a highly legible 24-hour dial and the original technical pamphlet kept inside.
