Per le moto nuove da immettere sul mercato, tutte le Case costruttrici, dopo aver ottenuto il certificato di omologazione del prototipo (codice DGM) da parte del Ministero, erano autorizzate a rilasciare la dichiarazione di conformità per ogni singolo esemplare nuovo prodotto. Tale documento era indispensabile per la successiva immatricolazione e per la produzione della carta di circolazione. La Benelli non ritenne opportuno richiedere un nuovo codice DGM per il modello -SS- perché era realizzato con il medesimo motore ed il medesimo telaio del modello precedente -Sprite 5V- continuò quindi ad impiegare il codice DGM già in uso. Il Costruttore si limitò a cambiare solo il nome commerciale: -SS- così alcuni uffici della motorizzazione civile, proseguirono ad indicare nei libretti di circolazione, la vecchia dicitura Sprite 5V al posto della nuova.
For new motorcycles to be marketed, all manufacturers, after obtaining the homologation certificate for the prototype (DGM code) from the Ministry, were authorized to issue a conformity declaration for each individual new product. This document was essential for subsequent registration and for issuing the registration certificate. Benelli did not deem it appropriate to request a new DGM code for the -SS- model because it was built with the same engine and the same frame as the previous -Sprite 5V-; thus it continued to use the existing DGM code. The manufacturer simply changed only the commercial name: -SS-, so some civil motorization offices continued to indicate in the registration book the old term Sprite 5V instead of the new one.
