At the center of a panorama of a Flemish river city, a giant glass bottle, corked, contains a monumental library: shelved stories rising to the vault, a spiral ramp winding from the floor to the neck, walkways, stairs, brick gables, ivy and tiny readers busy at the foot of the bays. Around, two quays lined with houses with gables reflect in the canal; a brig, a square-sailed ship, pedestrians, and a golden horizon bristling with spires and mills. Semiotically, the canvas is a double mise en abyme: the city contains the bottle, the bottle contains another city — vertical, made of books — and the ascending spiral embodies the very movement of reading. The contrast is that of amber inside and blue-gray cloudy outside. Meticulous craftsmanship, patient drawing in micro-architectures, palette of sepia, golden ochre and Prussian blue; spirit of fantastical realism in the Flemish tradition.

Le Yack, emergent French pop and street art artist. Alexandre Pelletier, known as Le Yack, was born in 1972 in Tours. During his studies, he joined the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design (ESAD) of Orléans. He is artistic director in publishing and on the web. Instagram @leyack45. He is exhibited in a network of about forty galleries in France, Germany, Belgium, United States.

Inspired by classical and modern painting, Le Yack brings a contemporary perspective to his creations by incorporating emblematic elements of pop and urban culture. His works are characterized by vivid colors, dynamic forms and expressive compositions.
