Critical note
Catwoman — Red Heart belongs to NUSH Menna's contemporary exploration of the female portrait, where the face is not merely representation, but a psychological surface: a space of identity, seduction, defense and transformation.
The black mask dominates the composition and, paradoxically, instead of hiding it seems to reveal. The gaze crosses the painted surface with a direct, almost provocative presence; the bright eyes and parted lips contrast with the glossy black of the mask, building a continuous tension between vulnerability and control, exposure and protection.
At the center of the forehead appears a small red heart, an element introduced by the artist as a personal variation of Catwoman's iconography. It is a minimal but decisive detail: on the black of the mask it can appear as a jewel, a signal, a small wound or a tender declaration. The armor thus preserves a vulnerable point.
The figurative precision of the face coexists with a freer, gestural painting. White, black, green and blue strokes traverse the surface, interrupt the definition and introduce movement, while reflections on the mask confer a quasi-liquid quality. The tradition of oil portraiture thus meets a deliberately contemporary imagery.
NUSH Menna uses a recognizable icon from pop culture to carry it beyond mere representation of the character. Catwoman becomes a figure of the contemporary woman: independent, seductive, ironic, exposed and protected at the same time. The mask is a second skin; the small red heart is the point where that skin seems to open.
The result is a portrait with strong visual impact, contemporary and immediately recognizable, in which the painterly care of the face dialogues with the more instinctive and material energy of the background.
Original and unique artwork, entirely hand-painted in oil on canvas by NUSH Menna.
Original artwork by NUSH Menna.
The work comes directly from the artist's studio and is finished with a final protective varnish. It is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
Frame and shipping
The work is made on unstretched canvas and is normally provided without a frame.
If the final price reaches a value significantly higher than the reserve price, the work may be provided, as a gift from the artist, with a simple frame chosen in harmony with the painting.
Otherwise, the canvas will be carefully protected, rolled and shipped inside a rigid tube, a solution particularly suitable for safe transport of canvas works that are not framed.
Packaging is prepared with special care to protect the artwork during transport. Recycled and recyclable packing materials are used where possible, with the aim of reducing waste and environmental impact.
Materials: professional oil paints, artist's canvas, final protective varnish.
Note on images
The staged images are provided solely for illustrative purposes, to show a possible placement of the work.
For actual dimensions always refer to the measurements stated in the work description: 30 × 40 cm.
Frames and elements shown in the staged images are not included, unless explicitly stated in the description.
The colors visible in photographs and simulations may show slight variations from the original work due to lighting conditions, photography, and different screen settings.
