Description from the seller
Magnificent decorative plate on glazed ceramic feet, signed SCHÜTZ CILLI, dating probably from the early 20th century.
This particularly decorative piece features a rich glaze in brown, bronze and gold tones, highlighting a broad relief frieze composed of scrolls, foliage and stylized motifs.
In the center lies a remarkable ivory-colored relief medallion, representing a figurative scene composed of several female figures, rendered with great finesse.
The contrast between the light medallion and the brown glaze gives the whole piece considerable depth.
The plate rests on three richly moulded feet, integrated into the composition and echoing the ornamental spirit of the whole.
The reverse clearly bears the mark SCHÜTZ CILLI, allowing this piece to be linked to the Schütz factory at Cilli in the former Austro-Hungarian Empire.
A very beautiful collector's piece, representative of European decorative productions of the Art Nouveau period, with a strong historicist / neo-Renaissance influence in its abundant relief decoration
Style: Art Nouveau with historicist / neo-Renaissance influences
Material: glazed ceramic with relief decoration
Manufacture / signature: Schütz Cilli
Origin: former Austro-Hungarian Empire
Dimensions: about 38 × 38 cm
Height: about 10 cm
Good overall condition considering its age, with possible minor signs of use and wear visible in the photographs.
An impressive and particularly decorative piece, ideal for a collection of antique ceramics, a characterful interior, or as a centerpiece for display.
