Elizabeth Earnshaw (XIX-XX) - By the Fireside

A very lovely painting of a family around the fireside by English artist Elizabeth Earnshaw (1869-1922), wife of another English figurative artist John Sutcliffe. This painting was accepted into the Royal Academy exhibition in 1909. She exhibited twice at the Royal Academy.

Elizabeth Earnshaw was primarily an illustrator for periodicals and books, notably active in the early 20th century (such as The Girl's Realm in 1911). She is documented as one of the prominent female illustrators of her period, with works featured in antiquarian book catalogues.

Framed and glazed, with frame size of 39.5x32.5cm.
