"WHAT REMAINS OF THE SKY" Materials, marks and color emerge from a wide space of light. Suspended shapes and essential gestures traverse the surface, leaving the viewer the freedom to imagine what is being told.

PAOLO CONTIN has been developing his personal and continually evolving artistic path for over twenty-five years. Trained in design and active since 1980 in the fashion world, he brings to painting a particular sensitivity to color, form, and compositional balance.

Since 1999 he has exhibited his works, and in 2002 he held his first solo show in Padua. This was followed by numerous exhibitions in Italy and abroad, with presence in Copenhagen, Munich, Paris, Brussels, Istanbul, Buenos Aires and Sydney.

Paolo Contin's artistic path is also documented by his inclusion in the Mondadori Art catalog with related valuations. Over the years his works have also been published in Arte Mondadori magazine and in numerous catalogs and volumes produced for solo shows and major art fairs, some of which were published with the support of the Italian Cultural Institute.

He was also among the founding members of Tostart, an artistic association formed by the meeting of ten Venetian artists and active up to the pandemic period.

An eclectic and independent artist, Contin has built over the years a recognizable language, distant from belonging to a single school or trend. His research traverses geometric abstraction, material and gestural painting, alternating rigor and expressive freedom. Lines, fields of color, geometric shapes, and intense chromatic relationships become elements of a vocabulary through which he explores balance, movement, and emotion.

Experimentation also extends to sculpture and wood, with works built through the overlaid arrangement of geometric elements, confirming a search that goes beyond the boundaries of painting alone.
His work continues to evolve today without preset formulas: every work arises from the desire to preserve freedom, identity, and expressive authenticity.
