In 1874, impressed by La Scala in Milan , Marie-Reine Rameau, widow of Roisin, owner of the Élysée-Montmartre ballroom, had the Scala café-concert 2 built on this site by the architects Delarue and Beaupied . The 340  m2 hall can hold around 1,400 seats. It is topped with a removable glass dome 3 (which has since disappeared, despite a ceiling height of 25 metres 4 ). The first revue was given there in 1878.
