This marine painting was executed in the late 19th century/ beginning 20th century by good listed German painter professor Max Jensen (born 1860 in Berlin). He was officer of Royal marine infantry and active as marine painter from 1877 to 1908.
Jensen studied at the Berlin Academy of the Arts, after study he continued his studies at the Academy of the Arts in Düsseldorf. He exhibited his seascapes at exhibitions in Germany, Denmark and Holland. Max Jensen lived in Berlin, but spent a lot of time on the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts, where were created his maritime motifs with often raging sea waves and stormy cloud landscapes.
