Peter Schwartz - The Intellectual Activist - 1994-1979

The Intellectual Activist ** / Peter Schwartz started the publication in 1979 to examine cultural and political issues through the lens of Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism.

*Ayn Rand, (St. Petersburg, February 2, 1905 – New York, March 6, 1982) wrote novels and was the founder of the philosophy of Objectivism. She grew up in Russia and left in 1926 for the United States, where she soon after became an American citizen.

In her novels she attempted to depict the image of man as a heroic being. She gained the most fame with her two final novels: The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged.

After her death in 1985, the Ayn Rand Institute began. Its founding was mainly due to the efforts of philosopher Leonard Peikoff – the legal and intellectual heir of Ayn Rand – and businessman Ed Snider, owner of the Philadelphia Flyers and other ventures. Dr. Peikoff provided the intellectual basis, while Mr. Snider took care of the initiative and the business expertise. Both men wanted to create a base of operations to promote the philosophy of Objectivism.

All issues (episodes) of the magazine have been folded and are therefore demonstrably original and not copies. All in good clean condition. The Ralston letter suggests that the whole was assembled in 1994.

The box measures 30.5 x 25 cm and weighs 2468 grams. The number of pages remains an estimate (3000?).
