DESCRIPTION
Large hunting scene depicting a dog at rest watching a pheasant in full flight, in a wooded landscape treated in deep, atmospheric tones.

The work is executed on a canvas stretched over a wooden frame. It is presented in an elegant antique gilded wooden frame, adorned with an interior festooned moulding.

The painting is unsigned, or the signature has not been identified. The author and the exact dating are therefore unknown. By its subject, its composition and its pictorial treatment, it can be linked to the European tradition of animal and hunting painting of the late 19th or early 20th century, without guarantee of attribution or dating.

TECHNIQUE AND SUPPORT
Oil on canvas, presumed, mounted on a wooden frame.

CONDITION
Old condition, in keeping with the age of the work. The canvas shows general darkening, surface dirt, rubbing, small losses or paintwear and visible irregularities. The reverse shows an old canvas with marks, dust and traces of time.

The gilded frame also shows wear, scratches, small chips and occasional losses.

The work is sold in its current state, with no recent restoration known. An inspection and, if necessary, cleaning by a professional restorer could improve its legibility. The photographs are an integral part of the description and should be examined carefully.
