Wilhelm Legler (* 3 April 1875 in Pisino, Croatia; † 28 April 1951 in Stillfried, Lower Austria) was an Austrian painter. He belonged to the inner circle around Carl Moll and was first married to Grete Schindler, the sister of Alma Mahler and stepdaughter of Carl Moll.
-----
The work offered here in the expressionist style of modernism shows a summer landscape under a heavily overcast sky. The trees are moved by the wind, and behind a row of bushes a village with a church tower can be seen.
The painting style is characterized by strong, quick strokes; the grass and plants are applied quickly and thickly. The painter refrained from using color perspective and gave every level of depth in the landscape the same brightness, which makes the entire composition appear very graphic and symbolic.
-----
The image was professionally cleaned.
-----
The original painting offered here is a unique piece in very good condition (see pictures).
The flawless brown wooden frame is included as a free gift.
-----
The shipment is made as an insured parcel in professional, transport-safe packaging.
