The Wind in the Willows, illustrated by Arthur Rackham with 12 colour plates, is a hardback illustrated edition of 190 pages published by The Heritage Press, New York, in the 1940s in English with an introduction by A. A. Milne.

Handsome copy with 12 attractive colour plates by Rackham
The last book to be illustrated by Rackham. Grahame himself originally approached Rackham to illustrate his book but at that time it could not be managed. It was thirty years later that Rackham finally consented. The pictures were finished just as World War II broke out and were originally published in America by the Limited Editions Club.
This lovely illustrated first American edition of ‘The Wind in the Willows’ features 12 lovely colour plates including frontispiece by Arthur Rackham, and 15 line drawings. An introduction by A. A. Milne. Published by The Heritage Press, New York, 1940s. Publisher’s original blue cloth covers, with gilt design on upper cover, and gilt title to the spine.

Condition
The book in nice condition. External covers are clean and in nice shape, and with light fading to edges and spine ends. Internally; in very good condition. Old inscription dated 1946 and an illustrated image on first blank front free endpaper page. Firm and strong binding, bright and clean pages. All coloured plates are present and in very nice condition (Please see pictures).
