Decorative wall tapestry in a medieval–Renaissance style, a woven textile inspired by Burgundian iconography, dating to 1960–1970, about 59 × 59 cm and 235 g, with a blue reverse and a gold-bordered decorative frame.
Description from the seller
Decorative wall tapestry in a medieval / Renaissance style, inspired by Burgundian iconography and the so-called millefleurs compositions.
The scene presents two ladies in period costume arranged on either side of a large heraldic escutcheon, within a dense setting of flowers, foliage and fantastical animals. Several banners with inscriptions reinforce the historicizing character of the whole.
The panel is made of woven textile, with a motif directly integrated into the fabric structure. It is framed by a wide gilded decorative border with vegetal motifs.
The back is fully lined with blue fabric. Four attachments are arranged on the upper edge to allow wall mounting.
This is a decorative reproduction produced later, inspired by medieval and Renaissance tapestries of Burgundian and Franco-Flemish tradition, and not an ancient tapestry from the 15th or 16th centuries.
Dimensions: about 59 × 59 cm
Weight: about 235 g
Good overall condition, with light signs of use or storage compatible with age. A small localized wear may be observed on the back.
The numerous photographs are an integral part of the description and allow precise appreciation of the condition, weaving and details of the decor.
A beautiful decorative object for an historic interior, medievalist, cabinet of curiosities or collection of decorative textiles.
