Forest Snow Covered Passage At Sunset, an original oil painting by Jack Hamel (1890-1951) from the 1920s, Netherlands, measuring 97 cm by 80 cm, hand signed, in good condition and sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Here we have an extremely wonderful oil on canvas by re known Dutch artist Jack Hamel 1890-1951. The artwork depicts a forest snow cover passage as the sunsets on another day. This most beautiful piece has superb quality as the rays from the sun seem to shimmer and reflect off the icy cold snow and glow through the dense forest. The painting is signed lower left Jack Hamel. On the verso are written two addresses which may have something to do with the artwork, Hilversum being a town in northern Netherlands. Often exhibited and his work sold well. Works include the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and Museum Arnhem. His works have sold in all the top prestigious Auction houses realising over four figure sums. A brilliant antique piece which would grace any wall in your home.
Biography :
Jack Hamel was a dynamic artist who painted all over the world. During his trips to Corsica, Italy and Indonesia, he became influenced by the bright colour of the light. He painted cities and ports, nudes and portraits. When he wasn't working, he stayed in Amsterdam, Zandvoort, Apeldoorn and Laren. He was a pupil at the Haagse Academie. His father Willem Hamel (1860-1924) was a well known animal painter from the Hague School.
In good condition for its age, shows signs of repairs and comes framed. Please view all images as these form part of the description. The frame is a gift no compensation give if damaged in transit.
