Description
Authentic old acetylene / carbide bicycle lantern, dating presumably from the early 20th century, around 1900-1920.
The lantern features an interesting engraved mark « Uweil & Hammer », accompanied by the designation « Constructor » and a reference to Antwerp. The mark, still visible despite its age, is shown in detail in the photographs.
Fully metal construction with a large convex front glass lens, side panes, adjustment knob and old rear mounting bracket. The whole retains a very beautiful patina from use.
The lantern has intentionally remained in its antique condition, with signs of use, oxidation, wear and marks of time that attest to its age and use.
Operation not tested. Sold as a vintage collectible and decorative item.
