Description from the seller

PORNFOOD

The sensation of pleasurable saturation, as when desire enters first through the eyes. The body becomes a storefront: exaggerated gesture, exposed flesh, a presence that plays with provocation without apologizing. A portrait-archtype of contemporary consumption, where attraction and excess coexist and merge.
A piece direct and of great visual impact, ideal for a contemporary space that does not fear discomfort or sparking conversation.

Description of the work

In PORNFOOD, the painting addresses desire as a visual and cultural phenomenon. The scene, frontal and immediate, places the viewer before a gesture of consumption pushed to the limit of iconic. The expressiveness of the face and the scale of the food transform a daily act into a symbolic image about attraction, abundance and the theatricality of appetite in contemporary culture.

The work plays with the ambiguity between what is appetizing and what is excessive, generating a tension where pleasure and saturation intertwine. The pictorial treatment, intense and contrasted, reinforces the emotional dimension and turns the image into a mirror of the current relationship with desire and image.

A vibrant and provocative painting that functions as a focal point in contemporary spaces, inviting reflection and dialogue about consumption, pleasure and visual culture.

This work was shortlisted for the Cambrils 2024 Gastronomic Contemporary Art Biennial, recognition that underscores its relevance within the dialogue between art and contemporary gastronomic culture.

About the artist

Tom Roy (Toni Ramírez) is an artist born in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona) in 1976. After a career in the business sector, a decisive life experience led him to devote himself fully to artistic creation, understood as a space of resistance, memory and personal reconstruction.

His work is characterized by a contemporary figurative language focused on the psychological presence of the characters. Through color, texture and an energetic brushstroke, he explores the tension between vulnerability and strength, between the intimate and the symbolic. His practice dialogues with references of Spanish contemporary painting such as Juan de la Rica, Julio Vaquero or Miquel Barceló.

His work has been valued by professionals in the international field. Elisa Pritzker, Owner and Director of Pritzker Studio & Gallery, and Flavio Scaloni, Gallery Manager of Galerie Lo Scalo, have highlighted the solidity and uniqueness of his pictorial proposal within contemporary figuration.

He has exhibited in spaces such as Sala del Cambrer, Centre d’Art Cal Masó and Gran Palas Experience La Pineda, and has participated in international fairs such as World Art Dubai (2025), ART3F Paris (2024) and FIABCN Barcelona (2023). In 2025 he was an artist in residence at the Radisson Red Silicon Oasis in Dubai. His work is part of private and institutional collections, including the Port of Tarragona and Melia hotels.
