Antique Corset / Button Hook – Ornate Silver Handle – Floral Decoration – c. 1900

Description
Elegant antique corset and button hook, dating from around the late 19th to early 20th century.
This type of personal accessory was traditionally used to assist with fastening corsets, button boots, gloves and other garments with small or difficult-to-reach fastenings.
The piece features an attractive silver handle, richly decorated in relief with flowing floral and foliate motifs characteristic of the Art Nouveau period. The long metal shaft terminates in a small curved hook.
The contrast between the ornate silver handle and the naturally aged warm-toned shaft gives the piece considerable period character.
