With this work, the artist’s stylistic language moves away from the playing fields to open up to the vastness of the sky, while keeping intact his compositional signature based on matter and graphical synthesis. The canvas is permeated by a deep azure blue, laid down evenly to convey the sense of a dense and boundless atmosphere.
The sculptural component of the painting defines the very structure of the work: a series of raised, earthy crests cuts the surface diagonally, evoking wind stratification, the three-dimensionality of clouds, or high-altitude air currents. These paste-like borders catch the light and create a play of subtle shadows, transforming the sky from mere background into a true tactile architecture.
At the center of this aerial space floats the core of the piece: the micro-figuration of a white airliner. Painted with meticulous care, the aircraft cleaves the painting material, leaving behind a trail of white condensation, laid down with a horizontal and vibrant spatula stroke. The stark contrast between the calligraphic precision of the airplane, the energy of the earthy trail, and the vast blue rectangle turns the journey into a suggestive metaphor of isolation, the human trajectory, and the overcoming of boundaries.
