Guillaume Louis Figuier, more commonly known as Louis Figuier (Montpellier, February 15, 1819 – Paris, November 8, 1894), was a French writer and science popularizer. Figuier became particularly popular for popular-science works, which were translated into numerous languages thanks to a simple yet effective prose, in volumes always richly illustrated with a wealth of engravings.
