Lithograph:
The lithograph, also known as photogravure, is a highly precise printing process used mainly in the art and photography industry. It is based on the principle of photochemistry. First, a transparent negative or positive of the desired image is created. This is placed on a coated printing plate and exposed to UV light. Where the light hits the coating, it hardens and forms a resistant layer. After exposure, the plate is developed, with the unexposed areas washed away while the hardened layer remains. The plate is then colored and printed on special paper. Lithography allows for high detail accuracy and tonal reproduction, which makes it particularly well-suited for reproducing artworks and photographs. Despite its elaborate production, lithography offers exceptional image quality and durability.
Horst Antes:
Horst Antes, born 1936 in Heppenheim, is a prominent German artist and sculptor regarded as a pioneer of the “New Figuration.” His distinctive figures, often referred to as “Kopffüßler” (head-foot figures), recur throughout his work. Georg Baselitz, Markus Lüpertz, A.R. Penck, Jörg Immendorff, Karl Otto Götz, Sigmar Polke, Gerhard Richter, Anselm Kiefer, Günther Förg, Otto Dix, Max Beckmann, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Emil Nolde, Oskar Kokoschka, Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud, Rainer Fetting, Elvira Bach, Neo Rauch.
