Very handsome vase or perfume burner from the 19th century, Napoléon III period, in solid bronze.

Style and decoration: It draws directly from Neo-Greek or Roman Antiquity. The central bas-relief frieze depicts a procession of mythological figures (probably Apollo with his lyre, the Muses and gods with bows). The upper register features a Greek-key frieze and palmette motifs.

Finishes: The medal-bronze patina brings out the engraved details, and the gilding on the base provides a nice contrast. The workmanship is very good.

Original function: The pierced centre structure and the upper collar indicate that it was probably a mount for a prestige oil lamp / kerosene lamp, a plant-pierce base, or the base of a scent burner (indoor censer).

Très beau vase ou brûle-parfum d'époque XIXe siècle période Napoléon III, en bronze massif.
​Style et décor : Il s'inspire directement de l'Antiquité néo-grecque ou romaine. La frise centrale en bas-relief présente une procession de figures mythologiques (probablement Apollon avec sa lyre, des muses et des dieux avec des arcs). Le registre supérieur arbore une frise à grecques et des motifs de palmettes.
​Finitions : La patine médaille du corps fait ressortir les détails gravés, et la dorure du pied apporte un joli contraste. Le travail est de très bonne facture.
​Fonction d'origine : La structure percée au centre et la collerette supérieure indiquent qu'il s'agissait probablement d'une monture pour une lampe à huile / lampe à pétrole de prestige, d'un pied de pique-fleurs ou de la base d'un brûle-parfum (ou encensoir d'intérieur).
