Description from the seller
Rarissimo 925 sterling silver cigarette case by Gabriele De Vecchi, from the “Specchi” series for the house Vhernier.
All of De Vecchi's research is tied to the theme of perception, movement and the relationship with the observer. The artist focuses his attention on the “skin” of materials to stimulate sensory perception. His design approach aims to experiment with new modes of relationship between materials and the public, between object and observer in motion.
De Vecchi confronts a material like silver, which by its nature has intrinsic reflective characteristics. After shaping the surface of the object, beneath the whiteness of the oxide, the mirror progressively reveals itself. In his projects, De Vecchi plays with the ambiguity between real form and reflected image, creating a dialogic relationship between artifact and spectator.
The box bears the Vhernier mark both inside and on the base, the silver hallmark both inside and on the lid as shown in the photo. Box in perfect condition as in the photo, accompanied by a De Vecchi-branded pouch and a rigid Vhernier box.
