Yves Decaudan's Sieste estivale is an acrylic on canvas, 80 x 80 cm, in an original edition, in excellent condition, signed by hand, delivered direct from the artist with a certificate of authenticity, depicting a summer scene with a lounging female figure and bold red‑and‑white striped clothing against a deep blue background.
Description from the seller
Summer Scene Painting "Summer Reverie" - 2026
This painting depicts a young woman leaning on her elbow, her head resting softly on her right hand, in a pose of abandonment or meditation.
The female figure wears a loose-fitting outfit with vertical stripes in bright red and white. Her eyes are closed, her lips enhanced with a vibrant red, and her short blond hair catches the light vividly at the crown.
The background consists of a flat area of very deep, intense blue, evoking the sea or a Mediterranean sky in midsummer. A dark element in the upper left casts a fluid projected shadow over the background. The lower third features very sparse white and ochre zones, suggesting a seat back, a table, or a sunlit terrace.
The artist's signature, Yves Decaudan, appears in the bottom left.
The model's nonchalant pose creates an atmosphere of quietude, gentle nostalgia, and inwardness. The contrast between the dynamic energy of the red stripes and the passivity of the sleepy or dreamy figure forms a singular poetic tension, characteristic of vacation scenes.
Painting by Breton artist Yves Decaudan - 1954
Delivered with a certificate of authenticity, direct from the studio.
Acrylic on cotton canvas, wooden frame, unframed, dimensions 80 x 80 cm
