In his interpretation of the female body, Paolo Desario seeks the essence, the archetype. The study of form merges with that of the pose, always in balance. By shaping the raw material, clay, the artist gives life to a body and a pose crystallized in time. Yet, the female body exudes freedom.

The artistic and polymathic talent of Paolo Desario shines powerfully through his works, releasing a vital energy almost tangible. His inspiration begins with an inner quest that has ancient and primordial echoes, as suggested by the sinuous female torsos and the winged figures. He manages to fuse reality and transcendence through ever-new insights, mastering an original synthesis between the individual penchant for the essentiality of forms and more attentive contemporary plastic research.

Sculptor and painter, Paolo Desario was born in Barletta, in Puglia, and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari in the sculpture school of Amerigo Tot. He lives and works in Barletta, has taught Plastic Disciplines at the State Artistic High School "Sacro Cuore" of Cerignola and at the Artistic High School of Corato. He boasts an artistic career started almost 50 years ago, dedicating himself to sculpture and painting, participating in numerous national and international solo and group exhibitions.
