In his interpretation of the female body, Paolo Desario seeks the essence, the archetype. The study of form merges with that of the pose, always in balance. By shaping the raw material, clay, the artist gives life to a body and a pose crystallized in time. Yet, the female body exudes freedom.

The artistic and multifaceted talent of Paolo Desario shines with immediacy through his works, releasing a vital energy that is almost tangible. His inspiration begins from an inner search with ancient and primordial echoes, as suggested by the sinuous female torsos and winged figures. He succeeds in uniting reality and transcendence through ever-new insights, achieving an original synthesis between the individual’s predilection for the essentiality of form and the most careful contemporary sculptural research.

A sculptor and painter, Paolo Desario was born in Barletta, Puglia, and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bari in the sculpture school of Amerigo Tot. He lives and works in Barletta, has taught Plastic Arts at the State Artistic High School “Sacro Cuore” of Cerignola and at the Art High School of Corato. He boasts an artistic career spanning almost 50 years, dedicating himself to sculpture and painting, and has participated in numerous national and international solo and group exhibitions.
