This piece comes from an exhibition that was on display from 31 January 2026 to 28 February 2026 at the Casa da Cultura de Estarreja, Portugal, celebrating the dreamy and absurd universe of Alice in Wonderland through a vibrant scene of chaos and enchantment. The iconic figures of the Mad Hatter and the March Hare, expressive and feverish, invite us to a toast suspended between reality and hallucination, surrounded by floating teapots, playing cards, and a chromatic psychedelia that evokes absolute freedom of imagination.
With a mixed-media composition, the piece fuses textual collage with an explosive pictorial gesture. The use of spray, marker and gold leaf accents creates dynamic textures and tactile depth, uniting the sophistication of Pop Art with the raw energy of Street Art. It is a sensory invitation to a world where time has no control.

Nuno Sardine is a visual artist whose practice balances at the intersection of carnival aesthetics and contemporary art. His painting is marked by a stylistic fusion between pop culture, the graphic rawness of Street Art, and the emotional and pictorial intensity of neo-expressionism. He is also a Portuguese costume designer, widely recognized for his role as artistic director, especially linked to Carnival and samba schools in Portugal. He combines training in plastic arts and fashion design with the development of Carnival parades, costumes and storylines, standing out for creativity in the carnival universe.

Under his direction, several carnival groups have won prizes, including best costumes, best storyline and most original show, having been multiple times crowned local and national champions.
