Description from the seller
Antique watch, vintage watch also called a pocket watch or regulator. Magnien & Co., military horology house in Verdun-sur-le-Doubs. Watch in solid silver, engraved on the case back 'J. Chevalier' followed by an inscription on a glued paper: "Jacques Étienne Chevalier born December 28, 1921 in Vendôme – admitted to the first year at the École Polytechnique on September 3, 1940". The watch measures 46 mm in diameter and has a gross weight of 67 g. The watch works perfectly; the crown probably needs adjustment as it protrudes a bit. A memento of Jacques Chevalier, military engineer, inventor of nuclear propulsion, who gave his name to the French Navy’s new replenishment ship."
