Verssan finds in pastel a way to inhabit the body through curves, empties and fills, shadows and light, by rubbing, blending and blowing the material onto paper. The artist treats his subjects using a range of tones (camaïeux) while playing with the color of the support in warm gray hues, revealing softness and delicacy as well as strength and virility.
