Description from the seller
New Series – Lost Souls
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to storefront dummies, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This research on gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later, drawn to the singular aesthetic of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he continues this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate figures acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Lost Souls
With this series, David Law plumbs spare, dark universes inhabited by phantom silhouettes suspended in air. These indistinct, almost erased presences drift in strange landscapes where emptiness becomes material. Through a visual language built with contemporary graphic tools, the artist explores the notions of isolation, trace and memory. A silent crossing, teetering on the border between the visible and the invisible.
Edition & Manufacture
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies plus 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with an integrated back mount. Print on luminous white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and humidity-resistant laminate, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Career
Since 2014, David Law participates in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops authorial and musical work including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
