Artist's biography:

He began his artistic training with his cousin José Mongrell Torrent, a pupil of Sorolla and Pinazo. He studied at the Valencia School of Fine Arts of San Carlos, where he was named professor of preparatory studies in color and had the opportunity to demonstrate his solid artistic culture. An academically styled painter who stood out in Valencian themes, mainly in Valencian regional genre painting, where he shows his command of chromaticism inherited from Valencian luminism, though somewhat aligned with modernism, which gives him a more personal and brilliant style. He also stood out in portraits and in his work as a poster designer, highlighting some modernist-style posters for the Valencia Fair. Inspired by sorollismo, he specialized in figure subjects, especially those of Valencian costumbrista type; Bartolomé Mongrell developed a luminist language, Levantine impressionism, marked by color and light. Throughout his career he held solo exhibitions in important venues, such as the Layetanas Galleries in Barcelona, where his 1934 show stands out. He also devoted himself to creating posters, both advertising and institutional, highlighting his works for the Grand Feria de Valencia. Some of his works are in the Circulo de Bellas Artes of Valencia, the Valencia Museum of Fine Arts, the City Museum of Valencia, the Diputación and City Hall of Valencia, and the National Museum of Fine Arts of Havana, in addition to numerous private collections.
