Rosary - Brass - 1880-1920

Chapelet of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary, made of brass and Job's tears seeds, from the Second Empire era or early Third Republic, in very good condition.
The medal features two distinct faces connected to major Catholic devotions of the 19th century:
Avers (Mary's Face): It shows the Virgin Mary with her chest pierced by seven swords, a classical representation of Mater Dolorosa. The Latin inscription "VIRGO SEPTEM DOLORUM" confirms its link to the Chaplet of the Seven Sorrows.
Revers (Jesus' Face): It bears the image of the Holy Face of Jesus printed on the veil of Veronica (the Shroud). The French inscription reads: "REGARDEZ LA FACE DE VOTRE CHRIST". This devotion developed strongly in France at the end of the 19th century (notably in Tours with Monsieur Dupont, the "Saint Man of Tours").
