Sardine presents Super Heroes, 2025, an original edition in mixed media (spray paint, stencil, acrylic, collage, felt-tip, pastel and digital painting) on a 40×40 cm plaster board, signed by hand and in excellent condition, from Portugal, sold directly from the artist with a COA.
Description from the seller
- Artist: Nuno Sardine
- Work: Super Heroes
- Technique: mixed media with collages on plasterboard 40x40 cm
- Materials: acrylic, posca, polychromos, oil pastel, digital illustration for collages, glue for spider-web effect
This piece comes from an exhibition that was on view from January 31, 2026 to February 28, 2026 at the Casa da Cultura of Estarreja, Portugal. The imaginary of superheroes is reinvented as a contemporary plastic language. The central figure, iconic and frontal, emerges from a universe saturated with color, fragments of comic books, impact words, and graphic gestures that evoke pop culture and urban graffiti. The overlay of references creates an intense visual rhythm, where strength, idealization, and collective memory intersect. Super Heroes reflects on modern myths and the construction of the hero as a symbol in constant reinvention.

Nuno Sardine is a visual artist whose practice sits at the intersection of carnival aesthetics and contemporary art. His painting is marked by a stylistic fusion between pop culture, the graphic rawness of Street Art, and the emotional and pictorial intensity of neo-expressionism. His work explores narratives, themes of identity, and the eternal search for creative transgression. He is also a Portuguese costume designer, widely recognized for his role as artistic director, especially linked to Carnival and samba schools in Portugal. He combines training in fine arts and fashion design with the development of Carnival parades, costumes, and storylines, distinguished by creativity in the carnival universe.
Under his direction, several carnival groups have received awards, including best costumes, best storyline, and most original show, having been crowned local and national champions several times.
These aspects have consolidated his reputation as one of Portugal’s most innovative Carnival artists, bringing an artistic approach that values creativity and the visual narrative of Carnival, emphasizing the "Open-Air Theater".
Nuno Sardine is frequently invited to workshops, seminars, and lectures on Carnival, costumes, and creativity.
