Description from the seller
Special and rare collection of antique copper cups/celery, richly decorated with fine reliefs. The decorations are executed in the traditional Repoussé technique, with the metal hammered and worked from the back to form relief.
The pieces have a characteristic European Historism aura, with rich floral motifs, leaves, figures, and ornaments, combined with decorative handles and feet.
The copper has a beautiful natural patina, with visible signs of age and use that suit antique objects and contribute to the authentic look.
Details:
Material: copper.
Style: Historism, with Renaissance and Neo-Gothic influences.
Probable origin: Germany, possibly Bavaria/Nuremberg.
Estimated period: ca. 1870–1930.
Technique: repoussé copper with relief decoration.
Condition: good antique condition, with natural patina and typical signs of age and use.
Rarity: rare and characterful collector’s items.
The design is compared with comparable German Kupferhumpen / Kupferbecher from the late 19th century. There is no clearly visible maker’s mark in the photos that would allow attributing the pieces with certainty to a specific manufacturer such as WMF or Kayserzinn. German origin should therefore be regarded as likely, but not definitively proven.
A wonderful collection for enthusiasts of antiques, historical European metalworking, copperwork, and distinctive collector’s items. The photos are part of the description.
