Murano-style grape-harvest compote attributed to Seguso & Linzi, mid-20th century Italian origin in clear Murano glass with an engraved grape-harvest scene, 19 cm high and 21.5 cm in diameter, good condition with slight signs of ageing and no visible signature.
Description from the seller
Clear glass compote or footed centrepiece with an extensive engraved grape-harvest scene. The rounded bowl has a gently flaring rim and a spreading circular foot. The decoration includes grapevines, leaves, bunches of grapes, figures harvesting and carrying grapes, and a donkey with baskets. Grapevine decoration also appears on the foot.
The engraving appears to have been worked by hand using a wheel. The form and subject suggest a connection with mid-century Venetian engraved glass, with a tentative attribution to Seguso & Linzi. The bowl is unsigned, and this attribution is based on stylistic comparison only. Neither the maker nor a Murano origin has been authenticated. The likely mid-20th-century date is also an estimate.
Dimensions: 19 cm high x 21.5 cm diameter, measured by the seller.
Condition: pre-owned, with no cracks. No signature has been found. Please examine the photographs for the surface condition and details of the engraving.
The lot consists of one glass compote as photographed. The photographs show the actual object offered for sale.
Shipping: the bowl will be carefully cushioned and double-boxed for shipment using a tracked service. Shipping charges are shown in the listing.
