Description from the seller
Elegant and imposing centerpiece jardinière in black-ground porcelain, richly hand-decorated with polychrome floral bouquets in delicate shades. The porcelain features a particularly refined floral decoration, enhanced by botanical motifs and floral compositions across the entire piece.
The jardinière is mounted on a spectacular gilt bronze frame finely chased, adorned with scrolls, volutes, acanthus leaves and floral motifs, characteristic of the Napoléon III taste and the Rocaille style of the second half of the 19th century.
The bronze mount, especially developed and elegant, frames the porcelain and forms two large openwork handles with richly worked volutes. The base rests on decorative feet and shows extensive chasing work.
A decorative piece of striking presence, typical of the French taste of the Napoléon III period, combining the richness of hand-painted porcelain with a substantial gilt-bronze mount.
Era: around 1870–1900
Style: Napoléon III, Rocaille
Origin: France, attributed
Materials: porcelain and gilt bronze
Decor: polychrome floral hand-painted
