AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Studio/atelier study copy.
Still life after Jean-Siméon Chardin - French School of the 20th Century - Oil on panel

Beautiful oil painting on panel (isorel or wood, to be adjusted according to your support), depicting a classic still life created after the famous masterpiece by Jean-Siméon Chardin, “The Silver Goblet” (original kept at the Louvre Museum).
The anonymous artist demonstrates, in this study copy, excellent technical mastery by faithfully reproducing the hushed atmosphere, the subtle play of light on the pippin apples, the terracotta bowl and the metallic reflections of the silver goblet. The chiaroscuro contrasts typical of the original work are superbly respected here.
The piece is elevated by a modern black molded wood frame of very fine craftsmanship, which adds immediate depth to the scene.

• Period: Circa 1950-1960 (Mid-20th century)
• Technique: Oil on panel
• Signature: Unsigned (as is the case with the majority of study and atelier copies from this period)
• Condition: Very good overall. The panel is sound, the paint layer is stable and the colors remain of strong intensity. The frame shows slight signs of time that do not detract from its superb aesthetic.
• Dimensions without frame (painting alone): 40 x 50 cm
• Dimensions with frame: approximately 50 x 60 cm

Careful packing and tracking.
