Beautiful and important collection of old newspapers Jean-Pierre, dating from 1939, comprising about 60 different issues, with a particularly interesting sequence going from no. 16 to no. 105.

The set constitutes a beautiful series of this pre-war French periodical, with many color illustrated covers, comics, stories, games, articles and period-appropriate documents.
A major piece of the lot: issue no. 78
No. 78 constitutes the essential item of this collection.
This issue contains “Le Monocle révélateur,” a text published under the pseudonym Fred Dysert, a youthful pseudonym of Frédéric Dard, future creator of San-Antonio.
This text is particularly interesting for collectors of Frédéric Dard, as it belongs to his very first known publications and gives this issue a bibliophilic interest clearly higher than that of an ordinary issue of the revue.
The copy no. 78 in this lot stands out also by a very good state of preservation for a newspaper dating from 1939. In my opinion, it is one of the best-preserved copies of the entire set.
It has, in particular, been kept flat and does not show a central horizontal fold (unlike all the other issues), a defect that is very frequently seen on old large-format newspapers.
The cover retains its vibrant colors, the paper shows good general durability, the interior is clean and legible, and the whole remains very presentable despite its age. Its preservation, combined with the historical interest of the Fred Dysert / Frédéric Dard text, clearly makes it the flagship issue of this lot.
Overall condition of the lot
The newspapers are not advertised as new or perfect, but the overall conservation is good given their age.
Notably: the issues have been kept without a central fold, which is relatively uncommon for this type of large-format newspaper.
The numbers may show, depending on the case, normal signs of use: small edge wear, rubbed corners, yellowing of the paper, small marks, old inscriptions or minor age-related defects.
Specifically to note: no. 16 has its front and back covers detached from the inner block. The elements are all present.
The photographs are an integral part of the description and allow appreciation of the actual condition of the different copies.
A fairly rare set to assemble
Today it has become difficult to find such an extensive set of Jean-Pierre issues from 1939 kept together, especially with such a large series and the presence of the remarkable no. 78 linked to Frédéric Dard’s literary beginnings.
Interesting lot for collectors of old French periodicals, pre-war comics, illustration enthusiasts, as well as fans and collectors of Frédéric Dard / San-Antonio.
