A rare gilded brass Art Deco perpetual desk calendar with a built‑in pen holder, produced in France around 1950–1960, in good condition with minor signs of age; dimensions 8 cm high, 11 cm wide, 5.5 cm deep and weight 400 g.
Description from the seller
This is a rare vintage mechanical perpetual calendar (perpetual desk calendar) with an integrated pen holder.
This specific model in gold color or brass with a ribbed Art Deco design dates from the 1930s to 1950s and was produced in France
How the mechanism works:
• The units (right digit): The units mechanism operates via a tilting system (flip date). By simply tilting the calendar a little backward and then upright again, a metal tab internally flips and the date advances by one day. (see photos)
• The tens (left digit): This digit is changed manually with a small wheel or slider located at the back or bottom of the case. (see photos)
• The month: In the wide opening under the numbers, the month is shown. This works with loose insert plates that have the months on them. You slide these manually via a slot at the back or side into the holder to display the new month.
Since this calendar can be used in all countries, it is up to the owner of this calendar to make the cards themselves and slide them into the slot.
It is a real rarity to find these click mechanisms and in good working condition
