Antique violin from around 1900 with unknown maker and no identifiable model; tested and usable, in good overall condition.
Description from the seller
Old violin without label, from the United Kingdom, maker unknown, circa 1900. One-piece back with a beautiful deep, wavy grain, on a dark brown varnish over a reddish-golden ground. A similar wood was used for the scroll. The top is made from two pieces of spruce, showing a fine, symmetric flame across the surface.
Ebony fingerboard, synthetic tailpiece and ebony pegs. The instrument remains in good condition, aside from marks consistent with use and age. Includes new strings and hard case. Small crack above the left lower F-hole, not affecting integrity.
Includes used metal strings, which need replacement. Also includes another set of old original natural gut strings.
Dimensions: Back length, 358 mm. Upper bout, 168 mm. Center, 110 mm. Lower bout, 203 mm.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO BIDDERS
We appreciate your interest in the item. Before placing a bid, we kindly ask you to consider the following:
1. Thorough review of photographs All parts are photographed from multiple angles. We recommend carefully examining each available image, as these faithfully reflect the current condition of the item.
2. Condition of items The goods are awarded in the condition shown in the photographs and descriptions. We do not assume responsibility for defects not visible or not explicitly mentioned in the catalog.
3. No implicit warranties Except where expressly indicated otherwise, all items are sold “as is,” with no warranty regarding their condition, functionality or authenticity beyond what is described.
We inform you that, due to the instrument’s accumulated inactivity (disuse) and the mechanical stresses inherent in the transport and shipping process, the item may require technical adjustments after receipt.
Please note the following:
• Recommended inspection: It is highly advisable that the instrument be evaluated by a technician or a luthier specialized in it immediately after delivery.
• Setup: Depending on the state found, a “set-up” (tuning, string adjustment, internal cleaning, etc.) may be necessary to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Responsibility: The sale is made on the condition that the buyer assumes the responsibility of carrying out these checks if necessary. We are not responsible for operational failures arising from transport or repositioning after periods of inactivity, unless structural damage was previously described in the catalog.
We strongly recommend budgeting this additional maintenance as part of your total investment.
