Description from the seller
The Panerai Luminor Base PAM 114 is one of the most iconic and distinctive models from the Florentine manufacturer, famous for breaking the brand’s traditional norms thanks to its bright white dial set in the classic 44 mm Base case. Below are the main technical details, aesthetic features, and details about the visible movement.
Key Features
The Base Dial: Unlike the Luminor Marina counterpart (the PAM 113, which features small seconds at 9 o’clock), the PAM 114 adopts the purist Base configuration. The dial features exclusively hour and minute hands, maximizing visual cleanliness.
Arabic numerals and graphics: The glossy white dial presents large black printed Arabic numerals, accompanied by small markers with luminescent material (Luminova) at the hour markers. This contrast ensures exceptional legibility.
Case History: The case is a polished stainless steel 44 mm in diameter. It is completed by the famous crown-protecting bridge with locking lever, a distinctive hallmark of the Luminor collection.
Movement and Transparent Case Back
One of the strengths most appreciated by collectors for this specific Panerai generation is the back of the watch:
Caliber OP X: The PAM 114 is powered by Panerai’s in-house calibre OP X, a hand-wound mechanical movement derived from the reliable ETA/Unitas 6497 architecture. It offers a power reserve of about 56 hours.
Exhibition Case Back: The watch features a transparent sapphire crystal case back (exhibition caseback) that allows admiring the decorated bridges with Côtes de Genève and the operating balance wheel.
Market and Collecting
The PAM 114 is a discontinued model, highly sought after on the pre-owned market. It represents an excellent choice for those who love Panerai’s wrist presence but want a fresh and elegant alternative to the classic black dials of military derivation.
If you are considering a purchase or already own this model, let me know if you’d like deeper insights on:
- The current average market prices across major buying/selling platforms.
- Tips for choosing straps (the white dial is considered a “strap monster” perfect for endless combinations).
