Description from the seller

Ocean Cells

Original painting | 60 × 60 cm | Mixed media on canvas | from the series “Soft Geometry”

With “Ocean Cells” geometric order meets an organic language of form. The work is part of my “Soft Geometry” series, where clear structures meet soft, flowing shapes and a multi-layered surface.

In various shades of blue, turquoise and aquamarine, a fascinating, almost three-dimensional image world emerges. The irregularly interconnected forms resemble cells, coral structures, or the surface of a mysterious sea. Dark, organically flowing lines separate the individual areas and give the composition its characteristic structure.

Especially appealing are the glossy and light-reflective elements that repeatedly illuminate within the shapes. Depending on the incidence of light, the effect of the work changes and new shading and reflections arise. This gives “Ocean Cells” a special depth and liveliness that can only be partly captured in a photo.

The surface is created by the interplay of different materials and techniques: acrylic paint, spray paint, EVA copolymers, leaf metal, gloss elements and epoxy resin combine to form an extraordinary relief-like structure. The epoxy resin enhances depth and creates a smooth, glossy surface, while the various materials provide contrasts between matte, transparent and reflective.

“Ocean Cells” invites you to dive into the abstract structure and repeatedly discover new shapes and details. The work appears at once calm and powerful – like a view into a foreign, organic world beneath the water’s surface.

Hand-painted original from the abstract series "soft geometry" by the artist Yannick Leniger.

- Mixed media on canvas
- highly brilliant colors
- sculptural surface
- certificate of authenticity
- ready to hang

In 2003, Yannick Leniger began graffiti painting and gained experience in handling spray paints and the properties of various substrates during nightly actions.
In 2010, Yannick Leniger began creating his characteristic works from the flowering series, which enjoy great popularity. Through the combination of spray paints and acrylics, Yannick Leniger developed different techniques that create unique effects in the works. These mixed techniques are also found in the current works of Yannick Leniger. Influenced by artists such as Christiaan Lieverse and Pier Toffoletti, the current works depict people who are developed in conjunction with structure-giving means. In several steps, parts are concealed, revised and highlighted.
From 2019 to 2022, Yannick Leniger was a member and treasurer of Kunstforderer e.V. in Unna and supported the association in a variety of creative projects with children and adolescents, schools and after-school programs. Since 2023, Yannick Leniger has been the first chairman of Kunstforderer e.V. in Unna.
