Description from the seller

Limited edition of 15 copies, signed and hand-numbered by the artist

This work is part of the series *« COLLECTION PARTAGÉE »* by the artist

Fine Art photograph made in Hossegor (France), in the summer of 2021, and printed on glossy Fine Art paper. The image is deliberately worked with a very pronounced grain, giving it an almost painterly presence, close to that of a painting. This grain constitutes one of the specific signatures of Agathe Toman’s photographic work: it fully participates in her plastic writing, in its materiality and in its visual identity.

The work is **hand-numbered and signed, on the recto as well as on the verso**. It is accompanied by a **certificate of authenticity signed by the artist**.

The photograph is shipped with care, rolled in a protective tube suitable for artworks. **Frame not provided.**

### BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST

**Born in 1989, Agathe Toman is a French visual artist of French, Austrian and Czech origins. She develops a transdisciplinary practice that traverses painting, drawing, photography, poetry, and sculpture.**

After studies at the **Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne** and several years as a stylist within haute couture houses in Paris, she chose to dedicate herself entirely to her artistic practice.

Based in the Landes, she has, for nearly ten years, developed a corpus of works today present in **many private collections in France and internationally**.

**Listed with Sotheby’s since 2021**, her works have been offered at several auctions. Her work has also been presented at **Art Paris** and in several publications devoted to contemporary art, including **Forbes, L’Œil and ELLE**.

Her artistic research is built around what, in experience, precedes her understanding: perception, memory, the body, inner landscapes and the traces left by experience.

Through painting, drawing or photography, Agathe Toman develops a language in which **light, matter, gesture and perception** become the vectors of an experience that is both physical and psychic.

Her work seeks less to represent reality than to give form to what remains difficult to see: **an inner state, a sensation, a memory, a tension, an apparition**.

In parallel with her artistic practice, she pursued for several years training in **psychoanalysis and transactional analysis in Paris**. This exploration of the psyche nourishes her work and dialogues with her plastic practice.

### ARTISTIC VISION

« My work explores the deep links between the psyche and the body. I question how our experiences inscribe themselves in matter, in memory and in the landscape.

My works are abstractions where light dialogues with darkness, where the visible reveals the invisible. They do not seek to tell a story but to provoke an inner experience.

I consider each of my creations as the materialization of a psychic state. They become spaces of projection where the viewer fully participates in the work, giving it a new existence through their own sensitivity.

What interests me is not what the work represents, but what it awakens. The work comes to life in the encounter.»
