Bouwman presents Type I (2024), a mixed‑media artwork on wood in an original edition, 43 cm by 30 cm, hand‑signed, from the Netherlands, created in 2020+, sold with frame, in excellent condition and featuring a box of hand‑arranged insulin syringes under a plexiglass cover.
Description from the seller
TYPE I is a personal art project by Pieter Bas Bouwman, who has lived with type 1 diabetes since he was seven. The work translates a daily reality into a visual language of repetition and rhythm.
At the center is the tension between control and temptation, two forces that continually vie for primacy.
Each work consists of a box filled with insulin syringes, hand-arranged into a pattern on a wooden base. The placement requires patience and precision; the repetition that emerges calls to mind the routines by which a life is structured, whether or not diabetes is at play.
A plexiglass lid completes the work, temptation visible but just out of reach.
